It could be easily argued that I have not posted anything in weeks, and an even stronger argument could be made that no one cared because only one person has even read any of my postings. Who would be making these arguments? Me! So, I win.. fuck you!

Anyway, a couple of notes:

  • I will be changing the theme of this Tumblr page, as the current theme was a rash decision made while I was in a heated, drunken rage… or maybe I was just being lazy and it was the first one that I saw. Not to ruin any surprises, but, yes, the new theme will be “kitten-centric”.
  • “But what good is a new theme if there is no content to fill it?” you may ask. Good point! I will be making much more frequent, and themed daily and weekly posts. I actually have written and compiled many pieces that could charitably be called “essays” and derisively called “barely coherent, erotic fanfic”. I give you permission to start getting excited now.
  • “Hey, how has that whole not smoking thing been going?” - It totally sucks but I haven’t smoked since August. Thanks for asking!
  • I’m moving back to NYC on Jan. 15th. Yay! Sorry, Portland, it’s not you, it’s me. My reasons are numerous and inchoate as always…. but it’s what I need to do.
  • Bah Humbug!

So, in short, New Year, New City, New York! More frequent postings featuring my “thoughts” about “things”, and of course the hottest subway upskirt photos I can take!

You’re welcome, World!

Love,

ALEX

Brunch-tastic at The Museum Cafe! Don’t think the hollandaise quite worked with the lingonberry sauce, but thankfully there was very little of the former. Tasted like fall should… Now, if only I knew at least one person willing to wake up before noon and eat with me. It’s not that hard, people!

I don’t know how or when béchamel sauce got introduced to Greece, but it was a delicious addition to what usually is, at best, lazy, cheap, overrated comfort food…. Anyway, Zorba’s does it as well as anybody can.

Oh this just melted my heart.

This is not keeping in line with the already vague theme of this blog, but… fuck yeah, Boston Terriers!

Anonymous asked: are you ever going to post another blog or do we have to read this trash over and over again?

Fucking hell! Sorry, this not smoking and drinking has been taking up all of my time… Well, seeing as the public demands more, then I suppose I will bless you all with my sublime words later this week.

You’re welcome, America!

p.s. The Season 2 premier of Eastbound and Down was excellent! Discuss!

Pills, Few Thrills, and Plenty of Bellyaches….

A few weeks ago I made the somewhat scary decision to stop smoking. To facilitate this, i scheduled my first ever physical (!), and promptly got a prescription for Chantix. How did the physical go? Great! I was actually disappointed to find out how healthy I was…. bad living for years has apparently done nothing to destroy my body… my mind maybe, but my liver and lungs have proved to be surprisingly resilient.

So far, the Chantix has been a mixed bag. It works very well (no smoking!) but it also makes me drowsy, upsets my stomach and gives me insane dreams, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I have spent years basically just falling asleep and then waking up with no dreams in between. Having nightly, vivid, ludicrous adventures has been a nice change. On the down side, no drinking. Ohhhh, this is the part that hurts the worst. What few attempts I have made to drink have not gone well…. I don’t know if it is just me, but Chantix seems to make alcohol taste like shit. This is probably all for the best, because when I drink I tend to eat cigarettes, so for the next few months I will be teetotalling. Sorry vodka and gin, I swear we will hang out next year…

As a result of this change in behavior I have been passing out every night around midnight instead of 4am, and waking up by 8am and feeling great. Just like normal people! The optimist in me sees this as many extra hours of the day to be more productive, but the realist in me, drawing on years of first hand experience, sees this as more time to get even less done. We’ll see which side wins…

Now I’m off to have what will most likely be a disappointing lunch….
